Calypso Grand Hotel, Hanoi - 01/04/16

After spending much time reviewing hotel reviews on Trip Advisor, we chose the Calypso Grand Hotel as our place to stay in Hanoi.  It had great ratings and was very reasonably priced.  Once we arrived, we knew we had made a GREAT choice!

The Calypso is a beautifully maintained and decorated boutique hotel on the edge of the Old Quarter in Hanoi.  It is close enough to easily walk to the markets and night life, but far enough away that it is blissfully quiet and peaceful at night.

Included in our stay was free breakfast each morning.  There was a really nice buffet of fruit, cereal, home made yogurt, and different hot foods each day all of which would have made a nice breakfast.  But, to take it up a notch there was also a menu from which we could order omelets, a Western style breakfast, Pho (Vietnamese soup), sandwiches, burgers, pancakes and waffles.  Awesome!

The staff was also amazing.  Very attentive and welcoming, our first experience was just after walking through the doors and being invited to sit in the lobby while they gave us cold damp towels to clean our hands and faces.  Next came glasses of fresh mango juice while one of the staff gave us a brief orientation of the hotel and went over a map of the area with us.  She also gave us a list of tips for navigating Hanoi from how to bargain for goods to staying safe while out walking.  We couldn't help but feel welcomed!

Our beautiful room was large by Asian standards:

The bed was strewn with roses - how lovely!

A first for us - not only a television but a desk top computer were included as part of the room.  What a great idea!

Sweet little chaise lounge - I spent a lot of time here:

A balcony with a view:

Complimentary treats.  Tea and coffee along with crackers and different fresh fruit every day.  The first day was dragon fruit and apples.

I couldn't bring myself to throw the roses away so made a bouquet.  I thought they'd last a day or two; they were still fresh at the end of our stay.

At the end of the day, we'd return to our room to find a rose and chocolates waiting for us.

The Calypso Grand rocks!
