Another perk to flying first/business class are the amenity kits that
are distributed at the beginning of the flight. These kits contain
comfort items such as socks, toothpaste and toothbrush, mouth wash and
hand lotion. They come in really handy during a long flight.
In reality, the contents are common every day items that can be picked
up in any drug store but opening an amenity kit is like opening
Christmas presents. I get such a thrill out of it - I guess it doesn't
take much to amuse me!
Let's see what is in the kit from Thai Air:
How fun!
This is a kit we received from Eva Air last year:
They also included slippers and pajamas!
In what is believed to be a cost cutting measure, Asiana is no longer
giving amenity kits on flights originating from the United States.
Instead they stock up the bathrooms with toothbrushes/toothpaste and
combs.
They did pass out slippers, though, which I am now wearing in
the Bangkok apartment. Thai custom is to not wear street shoes in the
house, so the slippers are coming in really handy. They're kind of
flimsy as they are meant to be worn on just one flight, but I think I
can make them last for the three months we'll be here.
There you have it; have you been left feeling like a kid in a candy store?
